Learning how to relate to Melvine when she is confused is a real challenge for me.
I have to remind myself that she is the patient and I am the caregiver.
I like to get her up, give her the medications prescribed by her doctors, and take her vital signs and record them in my computer, as well as mine.
Melvine watched Perry Mason. Greg prepared our breakfast and gave us cups of coffee.
I had some bills to pay and get them in envelopes to mail. Life goes on, and I want to be on time with paying our bills, etc.
I had to get ready to go see my family doctor, Alice Edwards. Greg drove me to her office in Watkinsville, GA, about 30 minutes from our home. For now, I have decided to ground myself from driving my car. Now, I have created another problem--I will need to get someone to drive Melvine and me to church on Sundays. Well, Dr. Edwards has had to increase my insulin units from 35 to 40 units. I am not doing so well physically.
Marty Airhart called and talked with me for some time. He wanted to know how I am doing. He and his wife, and family, reside in Hollywood, MD. They are in the music business and offer piano lessons as well as other instruments. I performed their wedding when I was the senior pastor of Good Shepherd Pentecostal Holiness Church in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama. Actually their wedding, a beautiful one, was in Atlanta, GA.
Ian Johnson, a gifted musician called today. I was unable to get to the phone, but I will talk with him next week. He is a brother in Christ, and has a lovely family. He and I wrote a song together. I wrote the lyrics and the words were from the Bible.
The Hospice chaplain called and came to visit today. Also, the lady that gives patients showers and shampoos came while Greg and I were got to see my family doctor. So, Greg and I were not here when they came.
Arlette Revells came and took care of Melvine while we were gone. I think Melvine slept a great deal, and Arlette brought her Apple laptop computer to do some work while Melvine slept. Arlette knows how to transition from one activity to another without losing any time. She is a gifted writer and author. She is currently working on a couple of books she wants to publish. She not only can write, she knows how to professionally design the cover of each book. She is so creative. She has learned how to consult with other authors and publicists. She consulted with one of her granddaughters, Victoria, a senior at the University of Georgia who majored in publicity. She is a millennial and Arlette wanted to get her advice about the book cover. She always amazes me. I love her writing. I will be promoting her books. So, keep an eye out for what is coming in the near future.
Bishop Tim Lamb, our conference superintendent called. He was in our vicinity and wanted to come to see us. Greg and I were at my doctor's office. He calls often and checks on us. What a gifted leader he is, and he still has the pastor's heart.
I called and talked with Ken Phillips about the upcoming SEC football games on Saturday. You know that my two favorite football teams are Alabama and Georgia. I would like to see Georgia wen the national championship. We have one of the best quarterbacks in Georgia's history. He has a team that can beat any team in the nation. Watch out for Georgia this year to be a top winner.
Greg went out to get our supper at Zaxby's.
Melvine and Greg are both in bed. Greg assists Melvine at night getting into our bed. What a delight Greg is to us.
