On Wednesday, May 29, I was able to take Melvine to the Athens Cancer Clinic near our P. H. Church. I took Melvine's walker and a lady volunteered to help me with it and help Melvine. It is amazing how many people offer to help you.
Melvine was able to use her walker and walked in the clinic and checked in, while I went to park our car. I had prayed and asked God to give me a handicap space close to the clinic, and sure enough there were several places open. I parked, walked to the clinic and inside. As usual, I filled out the questionnaire they often ask you to do. Melvine allows me the privilege to do that sort of thing for her, and I am pleased to do so.
They checked Melvine's weight and blood pressure. Every thing was good. We were given Exam Room 16. After we were seated, we had to wait just about an hour for Dr. Jan Huang to come to the room. She is always positive, polite, and professional. She was amazed at how well Melvine looks. She loves Melvine's hair as it is all coming back. I think she looks cute.
Dr. Jane Huang reported on the CAT Scan and had a copy printed out for me to read, She has come to know me and that I like things in writing or print. This scan viewed her lungs and chest, abdomen, pelvic area and bones. The cancer has never spread to any other part of her body. The cancer has greatly diminished in size, and although they can see traces of it, it is not growing.
Melvine's blood marker is now down to 11.7. When she was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer last September 2018, her blood marker was 968. So, Melvine's has the best reading to date.
I told Dr. Jane Huang that I am practicing medicine too. I decided to take Melvine off Oxocodone, a narcotic for pain. She had no withdrawal and has no pain in her abdomen at all since I took her off this medication. Since Voltaregin gel wasn't working, our family doctor prescribed 800 MG of Ibuprofen for the pain in her hands and fingers. It hasn't worked and I asked Dr. Haung what she thought about me taking Melvine off this pain medicine. She agreed and told me that it was not good for Melvine because of the side effects.
Dr. Huang recommended that I check with Dr. Ben McCurdy, our pain management physician for another pain solution.
In the meantime, she is referring Melvine to a urologist. Melvine will see Dr. Julio Pena today, Thursday. He is a kidney doctor and a good one.
Dr. Huang has referred Melvine for outpatient physical therapy at St. Mary's Hospital where I have done my therapy. I have a membership in the wellness clinic. I can take Melvine for her therapy and I can exercise in the same facility in the wellness clinic. God has worked all this out so I can get the proper exercise I need for my health and well being. What a good God we have. There is no problem to big for Him. He is the master of the seas, He heals the sick and raises the dead. He has great compassion for His people and for those who are yet to acknowledge Him He offers new life and health, peace, and joy.
I want to trade my car and get another CRV. I am believing God to help me negotiate this deal. Melvine and I need a vehicle we can both get in and out of easily, and one that gets good gas mileage. God has helped me in the past and He will not abandon me now.
We have made plans to drive to Melvine's hometown of Eden, NC for the Father's Day weekend. We have made reservations at the Hampton Inn there. We plan to attend the Draper Pentecostal Holiness Church on that Father's Day Sunday. Melvine and I were married there on August 13, 1960. In just a little over 2 months we will celebrate our 59th wedding anniversary. Two of the most important decisions I have made in my lifetime of 86 years is the day I received Jesus as my personal Savior at the age of 6, the first of the two decisions. The second most important decision was the day I married Melvine Stewart Morgan. She has blessed my life with her love for God and for me, and our children, and for the ministry God has so graciously given us.
Melvine is now unable to write because of the pain in her fingers. I am having to fill out birthday and anniversary cards she would normally do.
I am believing God for a miracle to heal Melvine's hands and fingers by removing arthritis from those precious hands and fingers.
Thank you for standing with us in prevailing prayer filled with faith in the God Who still hears and answers prayers. You are a vital part of Melvine's healing process through your prayers.
