Melvine and I are endeavoring to look beyond the things we see and experience to Jesus, the Word of God, Who through His spoken Word called the universe into existence. He has made man in His own image, and has placed eternity in the hearts of all men.
We believe that Jesus, the Word, because flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood (John 1:14, the Message). We believe Jesus still makes house calls, and that He is present in our home through the presence and anointing of the Holy Spirit.
Melvine and I responded to the Gospel message early in our lives. She has been known for her diligence in reading, studying, and memorizing the Scriptures. She is a gifted teacher, not only in the public school system, but in the church where we have served as well as in the Air Force. Her faithfulness to Jesus Christ and His call upon her to serve Him has been constant all the days of her life. Prior to her illness a little over a year ago, she could been seen reading her Bible and devotional books, writing a journal early in the mornings in our Florida room.
Melvine enjoyed singing and continuing to sing solos as often as she was called upon to do so. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school and has served as a substitute teacher in our Sunday school class led by Lavon and Arlette Revells.
It is such a joy to read the Scripture to her these days of our lives and together agree that the promises of God are ours to receive, believe, and declare for Melvine's healing.
I asked Melvine today if she wanted to be healed and live. Without hesitation, she said she believes God is healing her and she wants to live as long as God gives her breath to live and health to enjoy life to the fullest.
On Monday, we read the following Scripture with the promise of God's healing:
Deuteronomy 7:14-15 The Lord will take away from thee all sickness
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle. 15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee. KJV
We believe God's Word above all other word. We believe God has the final Word and that He is Sovereign. We trust God to grant her an extension of life. However, if that is not the case, we will continue to pray, read the Word of God and love Him with all our hearts. For us, there is no turning back. Should Melvine not live, we believe she will go immediately to heaven. The Bible teaches that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Melvine is under home Hospice care. We have a nurse, a social worker, a medical tech, a chaplain, and a medical doctor assigned to Melvine's case. Thus far, we have not seen the doctor.
On Monday, we did not have anyone from Hospice call or come to our home. However, we did receive some new pain medication that lasts longer and a diuretic and potassium pills that were given to Melvine by Hospice and delivered to our home by FedEx.
We are pleased with those from Hospice who minister to Melvine. We couldn't ask for any finer people.
I called and talked with my best friend in the known world, Wesley Russ, Monday evening. He had been sick over the weekend and for the first time in 40 years missed the Homecoming at Maranantha in College Park, Maryland, where he pastored for about 25 or more years.
He told me about Mark Lowery who has a Monday night program on YouTube and gave me the web link. After I finished doing Tuesday's edition of Hugh's News I went there to hear Lanny Wolf a great musician and song writer. You will thrill to hear the songs we used to sing in our churches. Here is the web link:

Or you can Click Here to listen and see the singers. You will be blessed as I am being blessed by this glorious music.
I pray that this kind of music will return to our churches.
Thank you, Brother Wesley Russ for this outstanding music.
Have a blessed Tuesday.
Melvine, Greg, and I need your prayers as we walk by faith through this challenge we've never faced before. I know God will bring us through it. I am glad I gave my heart to Jesus when I was six years old and surrendered to the call to preach the Gospel as a young man. I am grateful for the ministry has given to Melvine and me, as well as Greg and Stephanie (who has departed for heaven).
