Melvine woke up today with a renewed hope of a better day. This is a new season in Melvine's life as she faces possible multiple injections of chemotherapy. I took Melvine's blood sugar and it was within normal standards. I had her weigh on a brand new scale that Wayne and June Butler gave us. I am required to check Melvine's blood pressure, blood sugar, and weigh her daily and keep a record of it. I have taken on the responsiblity of arranging her medications and now I have small paper cups for her to take all of them at one time followed by water.
No longer do I have to encourage Melvine to drink water. Like the woman ats the well Jesus met in Samaria, Melvine has declared to me that God has given her a craving for water.
I had an appointment today with our pain management doctor, Dr. Benjamine McCurday. Melvine and I decised to ask Janette Hearndon to stay with Melvine while I was gone. Jeanette brought our lunch from Zaxby's. We enjoyed eating chicken salad sandwiches, french fries, lemon aid, and a special dessert Janette had made of diet cream cheese and sugar free jello, topped with strawberries. Jeanette asked for free crushed ice from Chic fil A and got it pronto. We all love crushed ice.
My visit to Dr. McCurdy went well. He has been treated Melvine for a couple of years. I had my first injections in my lower back several weeks ago. The office staff, and technicians and nurses showed a concert of compassion. Dr. McCurdy expressed his appreciation for Melvine and shared loads of compassion. He told me he and his wife will praying daily for Melvine that she will be healed.
He asked me what effect the injections had made in my back and right leg. I responded by saying I have had a 100% freedom from back and right leg pain. I said that I am grateful to God for His help. I have no pain. He told me that I can lessen my taking of pain pills. However, if I need medication use your pain pills as needed. That is a major breakthrough and I give God praise and honor for His healing touch in my body.
Thursday, Melvine will be meeting with a PA and will be having IV fluids for hydration today, Thursday.
June Butler and her daughter Jodi brought our supper from Rafferty's in Athens. Time is running out to tell you what we ate. I can tell you it was just wonderful, and it really hit the spot.
Continue to pray for Melvine and me.
Keep those cards coming.
