These days are crucial in taking care of Melvine's surgical wound from taking a skin graft from behind her right ear to cover the gaping hole in her nose from the removal of six layers of skin cancer.
I have learned how to prepare the mixture of white vinegar and warm water to soak a gauze to place on the open wound for 15 minutes. Then, I know how to double a gauze and spread Polysporin on it, and gently place it on the wound covering the area with the Polysporin, and using paper or cloth tape to hold the gauze in place to protect the wound and be gentle to Melvine's skin. It's not easy, but I am living and learning how to take care of my darling wife who has cared for me for over 58 years. I promised to love her in sickness and in health the night we were married on Saturday, August 13, 1960. I intend to fulfill my vows because of the love God gave me for Melvine.
Today, Melvine put on a new house gown that Greg gave his mother for Christmas. It is warm and it fits well.
Melvine and I were privileged to watch some excellent Christian TV broadcasts today, Sunday, December 30. The preaching was all good and we were blessed. I especially enjoyed Pastor Ron Carpenter, Jr., son of the late Bishop Ronald Carpenter, Sr., General Superintendent of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. He gave me new insight about a Scripture I often quote and write about. It is recorded in 2 Corinthians 5:16-19:
2 Corinthians 5:16-19 We are to see our brothers and sisters in Christ as treasures God has given to us
16 Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, Who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the Word of reconciliation.

We want to express our deep appreciation to all of you who read Hugh's News for your continued financial support and prayers. Your prayers are being answered, and your many cards, email, and letters continue to be an encouragement to us. Melvine has read every card and letter you wrote.
Dr. Don and Sue Brady, a retired dentist in Franklin Springs and his beautiful wife, sent us a DVD by the Collingsworth Family. It's title is "That Day Is Coming." It is a long and beautiful DVD with the best in Gospel music and musical instruments. What a lovely family the Collingsworth Family is to all of us as they bless us with Christian Gospel Music that feeds to the soul and lifts our hearts in worship of our blessed Redeemer and Savior Jesus Christ.
Today, I heard Jesse DuPlantis say this about the word encouragement. He said, "Encouragement is like oxygen to the soul." That is what you gave given to Melvine and me, as well as Greg, oxygen to our souls by your hundreds of cards and letters.
Today is New Year's Eve and the last day of 2018. Once again, I have run the story about Dr. Lonnie and Betty Rex who have been our Hugh's News Man and Woman of the Year for two years consecutively, 2017 and 2018.
It is my hope to be able to name the next couple whom I have selected to be our Hugh's News Man and Woman of the Year for 2019.
On January 1, 2019, I will begin my 22nd year of publishing Hugh's News. It has been quite a journey from 13 original subscribers to now more than 6,000 readers, some days more than 8,000. It is amazing what God has done and is doing. To be selected by God to serve as the founder, CEO, and editor of Hugh's News, Inc. continues to be overwhelming. God gave me the vision statement for Hugh's News and it is this:
"Hugh's News is the Flagship of Communications serving IPHC ministries and the body of Christ worldwide."
I am happy to report that because of your faithfulness in giving financially we are finishing 2018 in the black as we have done for all 21 years of operations. May God be glorified for His promise to supply all our need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. And you know He has and continues to do so through you my faithful readers.
