Greg, our son, had a birthday on Saturday, June 29. He was 55 years old. To help celebrate his birthday he wanted Melvine and me to attend Sunday school and church at Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church where he is their pianist.
So, we got up and got ready to go to Greg's church. The Sunday school class was wonderful as we studied the Scripture. The pastor is the moderator of the class and is gifted in enlisting discussion from the members of the class.
We enjoy the worship. We know so many people in the church from our contacts with them in our community, and the school where our Stephanie taught for some 20 years before her death.
The pastor teaches the children in a segment of the worship service. It is amazing how well behaved the children are and how they respond to him. A 12 or 13 year old boy joined the church in a deeply moving ceremony. The sermon was excellent, and the hymns were songs we knew and enjoy.
We had planned to go out to eat lunch, but Melvine didn't feel she could do that too. So, we yielded to Melvine's feelings and came home. Greg went to Kentucky Fried Chicken for our Sunday dinner and it was good. We all took a Sunday afternoon nap and that was good.
Melvine's blood sugar is down to 105 and 104. I think we will be able to take her off insulin. That will be our family doctor's call. I keep the records. It is a personal joy to take care of Melvine.
I have an appointment today, Monday, with my urologist, Dr. Gary Walton. I hope he can help me. The Botox surgery or procedure on my bladder has not worked. I need God's help through this medical doctor. I need your prayers for me and my doctor.
Thank you all for your prayers and get-well cards.
Have a good day and a great week as we approach Independence Day on the 4th of July.
Your friend in all seasons,
Hugh
