Living a Life of Purpose with Meaning
Author: Hugh H. Morgan
My father, Hugh Henry Morgan (known as HH Morgan) told me something I have never forgotten. It was his words of wisdom for me as I was leaving home to become a United States Marine and do my basic or boot training at Parris Island, SC. Little did I know how much I would need those words echoing in my mind over the years of my young life, and is with me at almost 90 years of age. He said, "Hugh, anything that is not connected ultimately with Heaven and the hereafter is not worth your time."
My dad got me thinking about my purpose for living, and I knew I wanted to live for God, to honor Him, and give glory and praise to His Name.
As I approach my 90th birthday on December 15, I am thinking about my purpose for living in a world that is in trouble and in a country that is is in moral and spiritual decay.
One of the purposes I believe God has for me is to produce Hugh's News for our readers. I don't do this ministry alone. God has given me Mel Tinney to be my webmaster. He has worked with me, and I with him for some 16 years now. He and his wife, Linda, reside in Wichita, Kansas. It is apparent that God brought us together, and he used Bill Cox, of Greenville, SC, to make this happen. God has a way of placing people in our lives to help us on our way to do God's will with effectiveness.
Another purpose is sharing messages from the Word of God that God impresses me to write. I desire to write messages from my heart.
By my nature, I love people and I desire to bless everyone I meet. That is one reason I do benedictions and bless people with the Billy Graham blessing several times each day as I talk with people via phone, email, or in conversation in person.
Then, there is the opportunity to pray for others, and I do that daily for a number of people, and for those who are brought to my attention by Joyce Johnson Burnette who does the telephone prayer requests for our church in Athens, Georgia, Christian Life Worship Center. I am honored to be included in the prayer chain. I desire to see people saved and come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
I am praying for a revival in the church and I want it to begin with me.
As we come to the close of 2022, I need your financial assistance to finish this year strong financially. God doesn't want us to lack for any good thing. The Bible says,
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favor and honor;
no good thing does He withhold
from those whose walk is blameless.
NIV
