Dear Hugh,
I read something today that really spoke to me and I wanted to share it with you. If you can use it in Hugh's News, o.k.--if not, that is fine too.
Among other gifts from the Baltimore church, they gave me a huge, large-print word search book. Each spread page has a Scripture portion on the left side with the "search" words underlined. The right side has the scrambled word block. The first Scripture I had this morning was Habakkuk 3:15-19. It really reminded me that with all the confusion, doubts, questions, etc., going on in our country right now, Christians must be reminded that our trust is in the Lord--not in a political system, not in politicians, not in government, not in Congress--but only in the Lord!
"Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign Lord is my strength!" (NLT)
No matter the circumstances, God's still running this world!
[Editor's Comment: We rejoice in the progress God has helped Janice Robinson Russ to make in her long and almost unending suffering. She has and is battling for her life. Cancer was the culprit, but Jesus is not only a mighty Savior, He is our Healer, and soon coming King. I rejoice that Janice could share from her heart and brilliant mind that is sanctified these cogent words of encouragement. I have a hunch that God is going to use Janice in exciting new venues of opportunity where she will declare the wonderful works of God.
May God grant Janice and Wesley wisdom, strength, joy, peace, and glowing health.]
Just a thought.
Janice
