I often listen to recognized church pianist David Carnes, son-in-law to Lonnie and Betty Rex, on Pandora Radio right on my computer.Their daughter Tricia married him. He served at a Baptist church in Atlanta as their ministry of music for some thirty years.
Tonight as I was listening to David play the piano my spirit was deeply moved as I heard him play, "When I survey the wondrous Cross."
Listen now to Mel Tunney, Larry Ford, David Phelps, Tanya Goodman Sykes, Terry Blackwood on the Bill Gaither Southern Gospel Singing. Just Click here to listen to this soul stirring and inspirational hymn of the church.
WHEN I SURVEY THE WONDROUS CROSS (TRADITIONAL)
TEXT: Isaac Watts
MUSIC: Folk Tune
1. When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of glory died,
My richest gain I count but loss,
And pour contempt on all my pride.
2. Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
Save in the death of Christ my God;
All the vain things that charm me most,
I sacrifice them to His blood.
3. See from His head, His hands, His feet,
Sorrow and love flow mingled down;
Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
Or thorns compose so rich a crown?
4. Were the whole realm of nature mine,
That were a present far too small:
Love so amazing, so divine,
Demands my soul, my life, my all.
[Editor's Comment: Do we love God enough to give Him our soul, our life, our all? What do you think - believe? Are you willing to commit your all to God and His Kingdom, and serve Him wherever He may place you? If so, do it now. Don't delay!]
