IPHC Ministries' Council of Bishops Declares a Day of Prayer and Fasting before US Elections
Oklahoma City, OK (October 16, 2020) In its October meeting in Oklahoma City, the IPHC’s Council of Bishops designated Sunday, November 1, 2020 as a day of prayer and fasting. The adopted resolution calls on all members of the IPHC to pray for the United States ahead of the presidential election on November 3.
“Politics can be divisive and cause breaches between families, friends, and in the body of Christ,” said Presiding Bishop Doug Beacham. “We must pray, bringing ourselves and our nation before the Lord of all creation. We must pray for peace, honesty and clarity in the elections and post-elections period.”
In its resolution the Council of Bishops directed all members of the IPHC to pray. The resolution reads:
The International Pentecostal Holiness Church’s Council of Bishops designates Sunday, November 1, 2020, as an IPHC day of prayer and fasting for the United States of America. We call upon all members of the IPHC to pray with us as we humble ourselves before the Lord in personal and corporate repentance.
Prayer shouldn’t cease on Election Day, Bishop Beacham said. “We must commit ourselves to pray for whoever is elected. We should call aloud the name of the president and other leaders, and we should do it each Sunday.”
The Day of Prayer coincides with the IPHC’s continuing emphasis on prayer, Arise in Prayer, which will host its second webinar with prayer consultant Doug Small on November 5, 2020. It also follows a multi-denomination prayer emphasis to “Finish the Great Commission” (finish2030.com/pray) on October 25.

The International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC) is a global movement of disciples of Jesus Christ with 1,500,000 members in 95 nations and over 1,600 local congregations in the United States. Our commitment to worship, mission, service and fellowship arises from our foundation in three streams of historic Christianity: the Protestant Reformation and its emphasis on justification by faith alone; the holiness emphasis of the Anglican priest John Wesley; and the Pentecostal outpouring at Azusa Street in 1906.

- Pray that the church of Jesus Christ in the United States would arise in truth, love, and mercy for our land;
- Pray that God would grant His guidance and wisdom to all who will be elected to serve our nation in political offices;
- Pray that our leaders would hear God’s voice and seek to govern our nation in righteousness.
