In God We Trust
Author: Hugh H. Morgan
On our currency in the United States we have these words printed "In God We Trust."
This trust in God must be personal for each one of us. As Christians we are given the opportunity daily to place our trust in God.
We believe that God is our Source. The Apostle Paul wrote, "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:19, KJV).
When Melvine and I lived in Richmond, Virginia, we took care of Stephanie's Dauchound, Ginger. Ginger had an injured left leg or paw. We had a patio with a number of wooden steps leading to the ground below. She was unable to negotiate the steps and knew that she had to have my help. She trusted me. I would hold out my right arm to her and she would leap through the air landing firmly on my arm with her legs wraped firmy there. She wanted to be with me whever I went. When I was digging in the flowers, she would dig right beside me.
The writer of the Book of Proverbs had this to say for our benefit as we learn to trust in God:
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
6 in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.
NIV
I am confident God is giving you opportunities to trust Him as He is giving to me. He uses others as instruments to help meet those needs. I believe it is important too for us to help others as we become aware of a need that we can help meet for another person.
May God help us to trust Him today. May He supply all your need according to His riches in Christ Jesus.
