Psalm 118:24
24 This is the day the Lord has made;
let us rejoice and be glad in it.
NIV
We used to sing a song that expresses what I have experienced this past week with relation to Melvine, my darling wife of almost 60 years:
Heaven Came Down and Glory Filled My Soul
Chorus:
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul,
When at the cross the Saviour made me whole;
My sins were washed away -
And my night was turned to day -
Heaven came down and glory filled my soul!
Now I've a hope that will surely endure after the passing of time;
I have a future in heaven for sure, there in those mansions sublime.
And it's because of that wonderful day when at the cross I believed;
Riches eternal and blessings supernal from His precious hand I received.
On Thursday, our pastor, Terry Kesling and his wife, Pam, were at our home,
along with some ladies from our church, in addition to Melvine, Greg and me.
Bonnie Bender was ministering to Melvine as a nurse. Bonnie started singing
the chorus, "Jesus, there's just something about that Name." We all joined in
with her in singing, and our pastor helped us to sing better with his beautiful
tenor voice. When we finished singing that glorious song, Melvine burst out in
adoration, praise and worship as she spoke fluently in a heavenly language, or
praying in tongues/praying in the Spirit, that lifted our spirits to an even
higher plane of worship. That spiritual moment caught our attention and we were
all amazed as Melvine poured forth her highest praise and worship to God in a
language only God could give her to prepare her for her departure from this life
to heaven a day later. In addition, God was preparing me to experience Melvine's
death.
This manifestation of the Holy Spirit made us aware of the presence of God. Heaven
broke through to prepare Melvine for her departure from this life to glory. Equally,
I believe it was a divine moment when God was preparing my heart for Melvine's passing
to glory.
I still love Jesus, and one day, I will die and go to heaven. I will see Melvine
again, as well as our children who have gone there too: Christopher Todd Morgan,
Julia Frances Morgan, and Stephanie Ellen Morgan.
Greg and I want to thank you all for coming today to share in our grief.
