Had it not been for Paula, a nurse at the Surgery Center in Athens, GA, I would have missed today's surgery.
I have in a printed document that my surgery was to be at 2:30 p.m. today, Wednesday. I had made previous arrangements to be taken to the surgery center and brought home. I will not be able to drive for 24 hours following surgery. Bonnie Patch Bender will come to our home at a little before 8 to go with me and be there during my eyelid surgery. You know there are only two kinds of surgery, major and minor surgery. What they do on me is major. What they do on others is minor surgery.
What has happened over the 86 plus years I have lived is that the eyelid has separated from the muscle in the eye socket. My surgeon will make an incision and attach my eylid back to the muscle. I will have to ice my eyes for 5 minutes every hour when I get home. I will have to wear sunglasses, and I don't think I can use my heavy Rollator walker. Instead, I have made an executive decision to use my lightweight aluminium walker with front wheels and I have tennis balls on the back legs of the walker. I have had two total hip replacements and I am unable to walk without a walker, and I am unable presently to walk with a cane. I have a problem of balance. Although I have had extensive physical therapy by well trained and experienced physical therapists they have not been able to get me prepared or ready to walk without assistance. I pray daily for total healing and quote the Scriptures for my healing, but my healing has not been manifest yet.
Hugh's News will no doubt be silent on Thursday as I will be nursing two eyelids.
Thank you in advance for your prayers.
