Robert Anthony Schuller, the son of the late Robert Schuller, wrote a book a few years ago entitled, When You Are Down to Nothing, God Is Up To Something. It is one of the most encouraging books I have ever read. It is saturated with Scriptures that speak faith and hope to all who read it.
What do you do when life seems to be falling in on you and you don't know what to do? To whom do you turn? Some turn away from God and seek help somewhere else. For people of faith, we will trust God regardless of what happens.
I like what the Scriptures tell us about Joseph in the Book of Genesis. His brothers envied him and stripped him of his coat or many colors, threw him in a pit without any water or food. They would have killed him, but Ruben intervened. Here is what Stephen, the first martyr of the Christian church preached to the High Priest of Israel and the rulers, "Because the patriarchs were jealous of Joseph, they sold him as a slave into Egypt. But God was with him and rescued him from all his troubles. He gave Joseph wisdom and enabled him to gain the goodwill of Pharaoh king of Egypt; so he made him ruler over Egypt and all his palace.
NIV
God knows our need before we ask Him. The Apostle Peter said, " . . . casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7, NKJV).
Then, I think of the woman that Dr. Luke tells us about in his Gospel record: "And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind Him, and touched the border of His garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng Thee and press Thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of Me.
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before Him, she declared unto Him before all the people for what cause she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
And He said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.
KJV
The key to this woman's instant healing was her faith in Jesus to heal her. She had spent all of her money upon physicians without any success of being healed. She believed if she could just touch the hem of His garment she would be healed. She pressed her way though the massive crowd surrounding Jesus as He walked along the road. Notice that the moment she touched the hem or Jesus' garment she received the healing virtue of Jesus. There was a transfer of healing power and virtue from the physical body of Jesus to this dear woman.
Let us, like this woman who battled a sickness for twelve years, all agree that we will touch the hem of Jesus' garment for Janice Robinson Russ. God still specializes in things thought impossible and He can, and will do for Janice what no other power can do.
Our God is able to do a creative miracle for Janice Robinson Russ/
