Howard H. Shropshire, 83 of Chesterfield, Virginia, went to be with Jesus January 10, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. William and Sadie Shropshire, brother Billy and Grandson Matthew Yeatts. Howard is survived by his wife Barbara, 4 children, Teri (Don), Jimmy (Renee), Debbie (Jamie), Trisha (Mark), 16 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and his brother Rev. Hubert Shropshire. A Celebration Service will be held Sunday, January 23 at 3pm at Cloverhill Church, Bailey Bridge Rd.
Howard served on the Church Board of the Richmond First Pentecostal Holiness Church, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and led Church choir and music, was Church Delegate to Eastern Virginia Conference, served as church treasurer, small group leader, and greeter and usher (Cloverhill Church).
[Editor's tribute: Howard Shropshire was a first cousin of mine through marriage to Melvine Stewart Morgan. She and her family dearly loved these twin boys, Howard and Hubert. Their father was an ordained minister of the Gospel in the Eastern Virginia Conference. He was a tailor maker, and designed and made men's suits for many men including pastors. Howard was a successful businessman. His twin brother, Hubert, was a minister of the Gospel. During my two-year ministry as the senior pastor of the Richmond First Pentecostal Holiness Church Howard and Barbara and their lovely family were faithful members of the church and were involved in the various ministries of the church.
After we moved to Winder, Georgia after living in Richmond, we have stopped by Richmond to have a meal with Howard and Barbara and Mary Ann Shropshire Weeks and some of her family. Melvine's mother, Frances Shropshire Stewart and her two brothers, Bill and Wesley Shropshire, were close relatives, and Frances and her husband, Russell Stewart, enjoyed having the twin boys visit in their home and I think they loved it too.
To Barbara and her family, I send my love, condolences, and prayers for the comfort of the Holy Spirit. The Word of God says this about those who die in the Lord Jesus Christ:
"Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on."
"Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them" (Rev. 14:13, NIV).]
