Remarks From The President
The Spring Semester of the 123rd term of Holmes Bible College has begun. There is a spirit of revival on the campus. The Holy Spirit is moving. His gifts are in operation. The faculty and staff are excited.
The Faculty/Staff met on January 4 for their pre-semester day of prayer and planning. Twenty-one of the team were present. Dr. Eddie Allen, pastor of the Tremont Church of God, was the invited special speaker. He did an excellent job.
His topic was "What Does a Holmes Graduate Need to Be?” A Holmes graduate needs to be Biblically trained, spiritually alive, committed to the work of the Lord, and Holy Spirit relevant. We had some good discussions with the thoughts presented. We all agreed that Holmes is providentially positioned to produce graduates that can build the Kingdom of our Lord.
The students arrived on January 5 and 6. Classes began on the 7th of January. We are already two weeks into the classes. Time waits for no man nor woman.
All arms of teaching are operating at the present – day classes, night classes, and online classes. Please pray fervently that we will not have to have some COVID breaks. We are prepared as much as we can be. Please pray. Prayer is the difference.
Update on Church
Like all churches, Holmes Memorial has found many challenges this past year. We closed our doors last March and began streaming the Sunday a.m. and p.m. services. I preached for two months to empty chairs except for the music team. On Mother’s Day we re-opened for Sunday a.m. and Wednesday p.m. We continued to stream.
Last Sunday night, the 17th, we re-opened on Sunday night. The Lord has blessed our church. Our attendance is off about 20%. Our finances have actually increased. Several of our people have tested positive for COVID the last ten months, including the pastoral staff. Four of our older members have crossed over with COVID complications. We miss them.
We have developed a new church on the internet. We will continue to stream Sunday morning and Wednesday night. There is no decision on Sunday night.
The church will move forward. We are “going where we have not gone before” but He goes before us. I truly believe the best is yet to come.
Please, participate in our services!

At 4:00 p.m. on February 26th, the College will dedicate two very special projects. We will first dedicate the Flagpole/Memorial Brick Garden. This is a beautiful addition to our campus. The bricks present over 500 individuals who have been a blessing to Holmes Bible College. The flag poles will be dedicated in honor of Col. Jack Kelley who served the College as Director of Advancement. The brick display will be in honor of George and Jackie Wilson, who helped to make the Memorial Garden possible.

The Prayer Garden and Mission Walk will be dedicated to Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Waters, parents of Dr. Richard M. Waters, former President of Holmes Bible College. We might not be completely finished with the project, but we plan to go ahead with the garden. It will be beautiful. We presently need about $5,000.00 to finish the project. The prayer gazebo begins construction this week. Landscaping will begin as the weather permits. The Lord is at work. Our plans are to dedicate the project debt free. To God be the glory!
Annual Alumni Banquet
The Holmes Bible College Annual Alumni Banquet will be held on Friday night, February 26th, at 6:30 p.m. Alumni President Pastor Bill Rose will lead the event. The event will be held in the Ellenberg Student Center. The Alumnus of the Year and Missionary of the Year will be announced.
A new year is upon us. We “go forward” with the awareness that He is with us. We will be victorious.

Special Prayer Needs
123rd Term Theme
Little by Little – New Territories
"Each One Get One"
We need help with recruiting students. I have not been able, due to COVID, to travel to represent the College since last February.
No others have been able to travel. Our student enrollment is down about 35% due to COVID. We must get our student body up. We presently have 51 students.
Our ideal number of students with current faculty and staff is 100. We urgently need to move in that direction for the fall.
I am asking all our alumni, friends, and students to recruit for us. Pray and then focus on a possible student or students.
Direct them to our website www.holmes.edu. Have them call. Bring them by for a visit. We are better together. Let us together get the numbers up.
Special Note: We have students needing an internship for the summer. Call Dean Bruce Hagee –540-616-5920.
Be blessed. It is time to seek the Lord!
