Essays on Advent & The Twelve Days of Christmas Leading to Epiphany
Advent is the beginning or the Church Calendar.
I learned about Advent and Epiphany when I was a resident student at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, KY. Melvine and I learned together. We were newly weds when we moved to Wilmore after our honeymoon. What an amazing three years that was for us of learning and meeting new people and listening to lectures from outstanding professors, and reading extensively in the library.
Let me inform you that Russell Board and Bishop Doug Beacham wrote a series of essays on Advent and the Twelve Days of Christmas leading to Epiphany.

"Christmas Before and After" is a series of devotional studies for Advent and beyond. The first section, written by Russell Board, uses the Advent season as a time for mental and spiritual preparation in the days leading up to Christmas. Board encourages readers to take this opportunity to thoughtfully consider the implications of Christ’s incarnation, both for their lives and for the world in general. The second section, written by Doug Beacham Jr., extends this reflection on Christ’s coming past Christmas day into the days leading up to Epiphany. With "Christmas Before and After," you can meet the yearly challenge to remain focused on what’s really important as Board and Beacham guide you with Scripture passages, Biblical and church history, and personal application.
