Holmes Bible College
Presidential Thoughts
On January 8th we began classes for the 2nd semester of the 122nd term. We are off to an excellent start. There is a powerful presence of the Lord on campus. We have new students from Ecuador, Nigeria, and the USA. Praise Him! Our enrollment for the semester should reach 80 students before we finish the second session of on-line and BEAM (Biblical Education for Adults in Ministry).
2019 was a good year for the college. Many were trained and released for ministry. The Lord is at work in calling and anointing our faculty/staff. We were able to build the Sturkie Building debt free. We did, however, have several of our most faithful donors go to heaven. Holmes is able to continue because the Lord uses our friends, alumni, and strangers in giving of funds, time, and other gifts.
Presently our students in their faith challenges, give 17% of the total operational cost for their education. The college furnishes the other 83%. This amount comes from individuals and churches. The only government money received last year was from 2 veterans and their earned subsidies. The amounts were minimal.
The cost per day beyond the student giving is $1100 per day. Last year we started a Sustainer Club Program where individuals could join by giving that amount. Since we started this Club, some seventeen have given a day’s cost. Praise Him! (Many others, of course, over the course of the year give this much and will be added to the Club). I am thrilled at the possibility of this number growing. This especially helps us as our faithful members cross over to heaven.
Donors have to be constantly added. It seems that some baby boomers and most millennials require extra training to give. It has been estimated recently that only 19% of Christians tithe and 7% give nothing at all. It is a different day!
We are moving forward! We are training more pastors, evangelists, missionaries and lay workers with Biblical core values. The Bible does and will always work. It is still the chief textbook at Holmes.
Be blessed as you read this newsletter. Remember Holmes!
Sincerely,
