From President Thompson
Merry Christmas! My prayers and thoughts are for each member of the Holmes family to have a blessed and joyous Christmas. We are a family! The Lord brought us together and thereby established some eternal bonds. We not only found a deeper relationship with the Lord at Holmes; we found each other. Enjoy Him! He is the reason for the season.
I am doing a series at the church on the four Gospels for Christmas. The series is entitled – “We Would See Jesus!” I am so blessed as I prepare. My first advent message was from Matthew – “Behold the King and His Commandment.”
That Babe born in Bethlehem’s manger was the King of the Jews and was the Christ, the Messiah, and the very Son of God. By the end of Matthew, He is the Supreme Lord and is issuing commandments. Mary was told by the angel, “You shall call His Name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins ” Matthew 1:21. Then He said, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth, go therefore and make disciples of all nations, . . . .” (Matthew 28:18-19).
Let us worship Him as the promised child born in a manger, but let us obey Him as our commander and returning King. Determine to witness and help someone find Him during this Christmas season. Make your list!

Carl O. Sturkie Maintenance Facility
Here is an update on the needed maintenance facility. The plans are complete and are presently being submitted to Greenville County. It is such a needed facility. My prayers are that it would be complete by the start of college in August, 2019.

The responses are good and picking up. Presently we have received cash and pledges of 10% of the $100,000.00 needed. At 50% we will dig the foundation.
This building is in honor of Carl Sturkie. Carl has been a gift of God to Holmes. He was mightily used of the Lord in constructing the seven buildings of the current campus. He was the contractor of five of the seven buildings. By the Lord’s anointing, he will build this one, his own building! Wow! Help us make it a reality.
2018 Faculty Christmas Fund
I praise the Lord and thank Him for using so many of you to bless financially our faculty and staff at Christmas. Many of you have already responded to Chairman Doyle Marley’s Christmas letter by sending a generous gift. Our faculty and staff work so faithfully and with low renumeration. They work by faith!
It is not too late to participate for this year. You may send your gift to the college earmarked “Faculty Christmas.”
