1 Thessalonians 5:18-24, 25-28
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, Who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
KJV
In today's Christian world, we are bombarded with prophesies. Recently I read one about "restitution" which I could not publish in Hugh's News. The Bible certainly teaches about restitution. The prime example is the story of Zacchaeus recorded in Luke's Gospel 19. It was God Who placed into the heart of Zacchaeus to repay that which he has stolen. Here is what he said, 'Then Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have taken anything from anyone by false accusation, I restore fourfold" (Luke 19:8, NKJV).
To aggressively go after that which has been taken from us is not, in my opinion, supported by Holy Scripture. There are somethings we commit to God, and allow Him to take care of it. Life is too short not to forgive others who have not been honest in their dealings with us.
