June 29, 1966, the 173rd Airborne Brigade experienced an incredible day engaged in combat about 40 miles southwest of Saigon. That day will live forever in the memories of every paratrooper of Alpha Company, 2/503rd Infantry Battalion. It was also a special time that went down in the annals of American history as Sergeant Charlie Morris was awarded the prestigious Medal of Honor for actions that went beyond the call of duty. Sgt. Morris bravely continued to fight on and lead his men even though he was severely wounded--some reports have him as being hit as many as thirty-three different times. Morris, also a Korean War veteran, lived through it all to serve his country until he retired from the U. S. Army years later.

Colonel Jack Kelley has sent me a copy of this book. I am honored to read it, and to promote Bonded in Battle in Hugh's News & Commentary.
Colonel Jack Kelley is a friend to chaplains. When I spoke at Northwood Temple shortly after I became the Director/Endorser of IPHC Chaplains Ministries, he adopted an IPHC chaplain, and sent a monthly teaching cassette tape of John Maxwell's teaching on Leadership to all of our active duty chaplains.
Colonel Jack Kelly, in my opinion, is a candidate to be nominated for the prestigious Centurion of the Year Award given by the endorsers of the NAE Chaplains Commission. I had the opportunity to nominated two great American military heroes for that award: Lieutenant General Jerry Boykin, United States Amy, and Captain Allen B. Clark, United States Army intelligence officer and a West Point graduate, who gave both legs in battle in North Vietnam. Both men were elected by the endorsers, and I was given the honor of introducing them at the Centurion Dinner Banquets.
