The long-awaited day is here when God has sent His servant Terry Kesling and his wife Pam to be our pastors, not just for a day or a year, but for many years to come.
Now is the time to rally around the church and her ministries. I call this Sunday, July 16, Rally Day.
The day will begin at 10 o'clock as we meet in the Fellowship Hall, known as Stephanie's Place, for a breakfast meal to welcome Pastor Terry and Pam Kesling. For this Sunday, we will not have Sunday school, instead, Arlette Revells will give a soul-stirring devotional message to set the spiritual tone of the day.
After breakfast, we will go to the sanctuary for praise and worship. Bishop Tim Lamb and his wife, Carissa, will be with us. Bishop Lamb will officially install our new pastor. Pastor Terry Kesling will be preaching at the 11 o'clock worship service.
Pastor Matt Smith will conduct a Children's Church service for our children, and we hope you will come and bring your children.
The Keslings will be with us for the long haul. A new and fresh start will occur this Sunday, and we pray for a smooth transition for our new pastors. Terry has been an Army chaplain for more than 20 years on active duty. They have specialized in ministry to their military community, and they will make a smooth transition to their ministry in our college and university city, and the neighborhood around our church.
They were with us Wednesday night July 12. It is beautiful to behold how well they fit in with our congregation. In my observations of Terry and Pam I have witnessed their openness, availability, gentleness, and respect for everyone they meet. Melvine and I pledge our support of our new pastors and we want them to be successful in all they do. This Sunday will reveal how good God is to our congregation by sending us such qualified ministers of the Gospel to serve and minister to all of us, and guiding us as we as a body of believers to reach out to our surrounding community with the message of hope and restoration.
Come and join us for a worship service that will thrill your soul and bolster your spirit. Your life will be enriched by the praise and worship, the freedom for the Holy Spirit to be in charge of the service, great music, and a Holy Spirit anointed message from the Bible, and an altar service where people will receive from God His special blessings.
For those attending our church from out of town, Christian Life Worship Center, formerly Tarkenton Memorial Church, is located one mile north of the Athens Perimeter or Loop 10, at Exit 14, just off US Highway 129. The address of the church is 125 Kathwood Drive, Athens, GA 30607.
