Visit Asbury Theological Seminary Voices to read Dr. Tennent's story. "In the final analysis, our mission is… about the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ and joining the living God in His mission in the world. We are living into a challenge which God put into my heart many years ago: 'Attempt something so big, that unless God intervenes, it is bound to fail.'"

[Editor's Comment: Asbury Theological Seminary is my Alma Mater. I graduated in May 1963 with the Master of Divinity degree. Melvine taught school in Versailles and Wilmore, Kentucky to help me get through seminary. I worked part-time at the IGA grocery store, and served as the minister of music at the Wilmore Presbyterian Church my last year of seminary. A Methodist lady from Sebring, Florida, paid one half of my tuition for all three years. God provided for our every need, and I never had to take out a student loan. What God did for me, He can do for those who desire to go to seminary. He is our Source. He may not do it the same way for you. I know what he did for me. I took every course in Evangelism taught by Dr; Robert E. Coleman. His classic book on evangelism, The Master Plan of Evangelism, was a lecture when I was a student. I have maintained a relationship with Dr. Coleman since seminary days. He serves as a Contributing Writer for Hugh's News. Life for every believer in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is all about relationships. May God help us to make friends and develop a relationship with them.

Jesus has not rescinded the Great Commission. The main purpose of the Baptism with or in the Holy Spirit is the power the Holy Spirit gives us to witness.
Acts 1:4-8
And being assembled together with them, He (Jesus) commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, "Lord, will You at this time restore the Kingdom to Israel?" 7 And He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
