Arise in Prayer - Day 17 of 21
Author: Ron White
"So don't worry about these things, saying, "What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?" These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need" (Matthew 6:31-33 NLT).
Too many of our prayers are about asking. Yes, we are encouraged to ask in order to receive, but our prayers should be balanced with expressions of love, honor, thanksgiving, praise, and simply being in His presence. And the things we need? Jesus says that unbelievers worry about this stuff, but that we shouldn't because our Father already knows what we need. Loving parents provide what their children need. So it is with our heavenly Father. He is not cruel or stingy. Have confidence that He already knows, and in His timing, we will receive.
Seeking the Kingdom includes praying for others - the lost, the less fortunate, the discouraged, the sick; Kingdom leaders and workers; our families, our friends, our co-workers; our churches, our schools, our colleges; our communities, our states, our nation, to name a few.
Pray every Wednesday for wisdom and common sense to prevail on our campus, throughout our communities and cities, and across our nation.
