I have been asked by Pat Keltner, a former student at Southwestern College when I served as the president, to promote Blue Sunday, a faith based organization that serves abused and neglected children, and the people that rescue them. Blue Sunday was conceived and brought to fruition by a dear couple in my church, Christian Fellowship Church-Harlingen, after their own grandchildren were taken from their daughter by Child Protective Services.
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. The last Sunday in April is called Blue Sunday. On that day, churches around the world pray for the children and rescuers. All we ask is that churches take time during their service Sunday, April 30, to pray specifically for the children who are hurting, trapped in dangerous situations, and unable to help or speak for themselves. We also ask you to pray for the people that rescue these children-grandparents, or other family members, Child Protective Services, Police and First Responders, Judges, attorneys, and the court systems that decide the fate of these precious children.
You may find additional information about this wonderful organization by visiting their website at bluesunday.org. There you will find information about what we do, how you can help in your own community, and resources to assist you in your endeavors.
Thank you for your time, prayerful consideration and support of Blue Sunday.
