Wesley and Janice Russ are long time friends. New friends are like silver; old friends are like gold. Wesley and Janice are both gold and silver. They have been friends for many decades. They are ever-loving and caring. Our friendship is welded together by love and mutual respect.
I call them often, and they call Melvine and me. We do e-mails. I don't do face-book or texting and twitter. I am a one track man. I can't walk and chew buble gum at the same time.
Let me share with you and e-mail Wesley sent me on Thursday morning, October 20, 2016:
"Good Morning Dr. Morgan,
Yesterday was a good day for us. Janice needed to go to the bank and when we finished there, she said she wanted to go to Walmart--then to the Dollar Tree. That was a big outing and Janice held up really well. I think Janice is beginning to reenter the race!
Today we go to the Mall at Columbia, MD. We are encouraged."
I called and Janice answered the phone. This has been the first time I have talked with her in weeks since the chemo and radiation therapy following surgery to remove a cancer in her throat. She is up beat, courageous, and optimistic. She told me that she will have a PET Scan next week. We are praying and trusting God to remove all vestige of cancer, that all of it will be gone forever, and Janice may finish her life with glowing health and the joy of the Lord. She has gone through great suffering and discomfort. She said she was taking one day at a time, but could see progress each day.
Janice wants to thank all of the readers of Hugh's News who have prayed for her. She believes it was prayer that has brought her to this point in the process of being healed. She wants to thank you all for your cards and letters of encouragement.
Please pray that the build up of saliva in her throat will diminish so she can speak better and swallow again. Wesley feeds Janice through a feeding tube. They purchase prepackaged liquids prescribed by their doctor for her current diet.
It is my prayer that the long night of suffering and all that goes along with it will soon be over and she can continue to live a normal healthy life. I want her to experience glowing health.
