As we close 2020 with two months of celebrations and holidays, let us consider the importance of Preparing the Way through Thanks. November is a month of thanks, gratitude and appreciation for the many blessings of God in our lives. As we gather with family and friends for the Thanksgiving season, let us be ever grateful – an attitude of gratitude.
November seems to be a special time for spiritual reminders of our many blessings. When we remember the blessings and miracles of God in our lives, it is like the furrowing of ground to prepare for the planting of seeds – kernels of gratitude and thankfulness – to reap and harvest abundant blessings. As we share familiar stories and memories with family and friends, we reminisce, recall and recollect with happy hearts and satisfied spirits.

Like John the Baptist went out preparing the way for the Lord, we are the heralds, messengers and proclaimers of the Good News. As we move from Thanksgiving gratitude to Christmas celebrations, we have opportunities to share our testimonies of grace, mercy and salvation with our family, friends and neighbors. We become as one who “cries/calls in the desert” guiding thirsty wanderers toward the oasis of God’s love, Jesus’ salvation and the Spirit’s comfort.
Christmas is the time of year when even non-believers, or as it has been said “the pre- saved,” sing songs about a baby in a manger, the angels heard on high, a silent night, a holy night, a town of Bethlehem, and joy to the world. Even though there are songs about Frosty, Rudolph, Santa, chestnuts roasting, jingle bells, and a little drummer boy, over and over the world still sings songs about Jesus, our Lord and Savior.
2020 has been a year of uncertainty with the pandemic, the COVID crisis, the stock market fluctuations, the uncertainty of employment, the divisiveness of the political parties and campaigns, the racial issues, riots and protests, the personal health concerns and the constant evaluations and decisions about “in-person” church services. May our time from now until the end of the year be filled with gratitude, thankfulness, and celebration. May we take the amazing opportunity to share Jesus with others. May we prepare the way through thanks!
GO & TELL: GENERATION TO GENERATION
We must GO & TELL, Share the Gospel, Disciple Christians. We are A People of Promise, A Place of Hope. We must have our generations come together in one purpose & goal: Live the Great Commission. We must tell our testimonies, live our sermons, share God’s Word, be The Church. GO & TELL is for every race, every color, every individual, every age: Generation to Generation.
