Dear Brother Taylor and Advocate Readers:
Greetings in Jesus' name from China. I am praising God for a safe trip across the States, and that the good Ship China has made her twenty-sixth voyage across the great Pacific safely. She uses about eighty tons of coal per day, and travels at the speed of fourteen miles per hour. She has been called the "Holy Roller" because she carries more of the holiness missionaries it seems than any other vessel.
I am praising God that the one great desire of my heart for the past ten years has become a reality. Today I find myself many miles from home and loved ones in the land to which God said go. He has made it possible and I am here. I feel encouraged by what He has done to press on. Hallelujah! The same God that never slumbers, nor sleeps, but keeps watch over was out on the street this afternoon and saw so many you in the homeland will watch over me here.
The voyage was more pleasant than I expected. As we sailed I planned studying the language. I desire to learn the language as soon as possible that I may be enabled to help tell the Story. As we sailed I saw nothing in sight but the blue sky above. I prayed that God will keep me, to help me learn the language. We were made to feel that heaven was all around us and God's presence was so real. Where Jesus is 'tis heaven there!' Keep the home fires burning and pray for me, that I may be a missionary indeed and in truth.
