A week or so ago, I reached a low place in my life as I was struggling to understand why the finances were not coming in for the production of Hugh's News. We were at the lowest level of funds in the Hugh's News, Inc. banking account.

What was been happening in my ministry reminded me of the story of Elijah, the prophet of God, who suffered like everyone else during the famine he prophesied would happen. The ravens brought food twice day, and he drank from a brook that God provided. Finally, the brook dried up and he was sent to another place to help a widow who had only a handful of meal and a bottle of oil.  Though the barrel of meal was never full it was enough to feed her son and herself, as well as Elijah. Later, it seems that her family benefited from the bread that was baked daily. Over and over in my life, God has supplied my needs and that of Melvine and our children. I know He will not fail me now. I know that I just want Jesus to shine in my life and ministry. Whatever gifts or talents God has given me, I want to use for His glory and honor.

Over and over again during my struggle with a lack of finances, I was hearing the words of the Lord Jesus who told His disciples, "Oh, ye of little faith." That is where I was . . . hanging in there with "little faith." My focus was on circumstances and not on the Lord. I know better than that. Jesus said, "Have faith in God."

Then, I began to speak life and finances for this electronic news service to the people I dearly love and with whom I have cast my lot in life and future. I began to praise God for His extravagant generosity, and provision.

Would you believe that God caused three men to give, one a successful businessman, another who is a minister of music, and a former member and outstanding lay leader of my church in Athens at Tarkenton Memorial Church? Those men lifted my spirit and strengthened my faith.

As good as that was, we still need funds to pay the monthly bills. It costs money to send out every mass mailing, fees for maintenance, hosting the website, consulting fees, technical support, office supplies, higth speed cable Internet service, stamps, envelopes, ink cartridges, long distance telephone calls, etc.

I have never taken a salary for my labor of love. I have invested my own personal funds into the ministry to make up for what was lacking.

While God is my Source, I know He uses people like you to help me pay the bills.

I need your financial support now. Maybe you have never given to help this ministry. It could be that the Holy Spirit is speaking to you right now to give. Whatever the Lord says to you, do it.
