William Erby Shaw, 96, a spiritual giant has been promoted to heaven

William Erby Shaw, 96, widower of Mittie Lou Saxon Shaw, died October 23, 2010.

Born in Belton, SC, he was a son of the late Elmer and Magnolia Bray Shaw.

Mr. Shaw was a real estate developer and a home builder. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship, the Civitan Club, the Homebuilders Association and the Greenville Real Estate Board. He was a past member of the President's Cabinet of Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA.

To know Erby Shaw was to know a Christian giant. He accepted Jesus as his personal Savior in his teen years and lived an exemplary Christian Life in his home, church, community and beyond. He was a founding Regent of Oral Roberts University. He was an International Director of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. His spiritual acumen and influence for Jesus Christ, his Savior, touched the world.

In acknowledgment of his accomplishments, he received an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from Oral Roberts University.

He loved the Bible and read and studied the Scriptures, especially the prophetic portions.

His yearning, especially through his later years, was to go "home."
He was one of the early developer/builder entrepreneurs in Greenville after World War II. With his partner, Waldo Leslie, they developed numerous subdivisions, comprising thousands of lots, and together Leslie and Shaw built hundreds of homes and commercial properties, a legacy that is now in the third generation.

Mr. Shaw was a lover of music, member of a male Gospel quartet and throughout his life played the guitar and mandolin. The Shaw family would often sing as Pa Pa accompanied them on the guitar.

Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Martha S. and Joe Franks of Greenville, SC; his sons and daughters-in-law, Larry G. and Joyce M. Shaw of Greenville and Jack E. and Jane L.
