When it comes to Preaching of Pastor James Leggett, the difference is worth the distance

I know you have heard or read this promo for churches--"the difference is worth the distance."

When it comes to anointed, powerful, Biblical, Christ-centered preaching none is better than what you can hear every Sunday morning at Holmes Memorial Church at Buncombe Road and Briggs Avenue in Greenville, SC. And those who drive long distances or just a few miles will find a big difference in the kind of preaching that will feed you the Word of God, stir you soul, and bolster your spirit.

The new pastor, the Rev. Dr. James D. Leggett, former presiding bishop for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, is the man who can preach. He is the new pastor of the church. He was born to preach. He has prepared himself all of his life for these days at Holmes Memorial Church. You can be the recipient of the blessing God wants you to receive through this man of God.

Melvine and I drove 252 miles round trip from our home in Winder, Georgia, last weekend to attend the 11 o'clock worship service at Homes Memorial Church. We were not disappointed. It was Pastor James Leggett's first Sunday as the senior pastor. He preached on "The Church" and used as his Scripture text these words of Jesus recorded in the Gospel of Matthew 16:18: "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (KJV).

Pastor Leggett reminded us that the Church belongs to Jesus Christ. He is the Head of it. He is building His church, and the gates of hell cannot prevent the progress of the church to move forward, to expand, and to accomplish her purpose in this world of ours.

I was greatly impressed with his emphasis of evangelism as one of the major missions of the church. He gave a personal example of leading his son-in-law to Jesus Christ. I am all ears and heart when I hear about soul-winning. We, like Brother Leggett, can witness to our children and family members with success. Let's believe God to save our families. Never give up on them!

The Scripture mission of Hugh's News is recorded in Daniel 12:3, "And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever" (KJV).

I believe that Holmes Memorial Church will more than double in the number of people attending this church in the month of August. We have two more Sundays to accomplish that goal. If you live within driving distance of Greenville, why not consider attending Holmes Memorial Church this coming Sunday, August 21? You will be glad you did. Your presence, joining in singing of the great hymns of the church, and Amen's will be a great blessing and encouragement to Pastor James D. Leggett and his congregation. More importantly, God wants to meet your need through hearing His Word.

[Editor's comment: Bishop Leggett has not asked me to promote his church nor any of the things I have written about him. God has placed it in my heart a great desire to use what talents I have to publish this new ministry of Brother Leggett. Hugh's News receives no remuneration for this service. My mission is one of service to our churches and ministries and the body of Christ worldwide.]
