What is the Daniel Fast? See Daniel 10:2-3

Please pray and determine how you will observe the fast. This is a personal decision each of us makes. We encourage a Daniel fast since it is workable for most people.

The Daniel Fast is based on Daniel 10:2-3:

2 In those days I, Daniel, was mourning for three whole weeks. 3 I ate no pleasant or desirable food, nor did any meat or wine come into my mouth; and I did not anoint myself at all for the full three weeks.

A Daniel fast is usually vegetables, fruits, legumes, seeds and whole grains. Some people include eggs and dairy, others do not. Please remember that this fast is for the purpose of seeking the Lord and not to be a mandate of do’s and don’ts! Begin to pray now asking the Lord how He would have you observe the fast, giving Him the first-fruits of your New Year.

Preparing for your Daniel Fast

During the Daniel Fast you will not consume any sugar or sweeteners of any kind, nor will you have any caffeine or artificial chemicals.

Many people experience a physical detox during the first few days of the fast including headaches, fatigue, leg cramps and other typical symptoms. You can reduce these effects by weaning
yourself from these foods before the fast begins and also by drinking at least 1/2 gallon of filtered water each day before, during and after the fasting period.

Anytime you have concern about symptoms you may experience, be sure to contact yourhealth professional.

Fasting should never be harmful to the body.
