The Lord blessed us with a wonderful day yesterday, September 30, 2010. The reception, the dedication, the groundbreaking, the bar-be-que were superb. The drama last night was the icing on the cake. We are deeply indebted to the Rev. Mr. Danny Rollins for writing the drama, directing it, and playing the part of N. J. Holmes. I have a card from him expressing his special feelings to the college. Many people said, "I never knew this about Holmes and its founding."
It was so exciting to see the church full. It was so encouraging to see many alumni and friends at the events of the day, and to see so many at the Feast of Ingathering. There is no way to describe the sense of the Spirit of God in the service. Many shared with me that they felt there was a shift in attitude and momentum for the college. I certainly agree. I believe that the Lord mightily moved in the college with a gracious assurance of His favor for a blessed future for Holmes.
I am deeply grateful for all that you did to make the day so successful. All of you were so helpful. It could not have been done without you, and I am proud of you. You represented the college well, and the people were blessed and impressed by you. I can't express in words how thankful I am.
Faye and I just want you to know how much we appreciate you and your contribution to Holmes. Your love and commitment to the college was very much on display yesterday.
[Editor's Note: I am convinced that God still has His hand upon Holmes Bible College. I discovered when I was a student at Holmes in the late '50s that I learned things there, and principles for Christian living that I would not have learned anywhere else. I was blessed indeed to study the Bible under Dr. Paul F. Beacham and the Rev. Mr. Jesse Daniels. I remember well that James Leggett was a high school student at Holmes. God's gracious hand is upon Dr. James D. Leggett, and it is without a doubt in my mind that he is God's man to lead this great Bible college in times like these.]
