Storms in Oklahoma
Just over one week after a powerful tornado hit Moore, Oklahoma, more storms rolled through the Sooner State. On the evening of Thursday, May 30, a small tornado hit the town of Broken Arrow, a suburb of Tulsa, OK. On Friday, May 31, a tornado also hit locations near El Reno, OK. Other parts of the Oklahoma City metro area were impacted by strong winds as well as hail and heavy rain.
Currently, there has been no harm to the DRUSA Mobile Feeding Kitchen however, the tent has been damaged and the products underneath were exposed to heavy rain and winds. Pastor Johnny Youell of Fellowship Church has stated that he will take some men to cover up as much of the commodities as possible.
Because the storms hit towards the later part of the evening, we currently have limited information. We will conduct an assessment on the Kitchen as well as the various parts of the City over the weekend to determine what will be done. The Kitchen team as well as the volunteers from River of Life will have a busy day ahead of them. Please keep them as well as the residents of OKC in your prayers.
