The Rev. Mr. John W. Slye went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 16, 2011.
His wife, son and daughter were with him at the time. He had just finished eating some lunch, drank about 8 ounces of tea, had a coughing spell and he was gone.
Della, his wife, will continue to live in the Goldsboro, NC, area. His son, Edward and his family live in Phoenix, AZ. His Daughter, Patricia has a home in Greensboro, NC. His oldest son, Jim preceded him in death in August 2006.
Brother Slye has pastored several churches in eastern North Carolina and one church in NW Washington, DC. He retired 3 times because he kept being called back to fill in at different churches that needed pastors and ended up staying several years at each one. He loved Jesus, his church people wherever they were and he loved his family and many friends.
We miss him so much but know that he is celebrating with so many who have gone before him and now he is pain free.
