[Editor's Comment: I am not sure I ever knew Elvis Lawrence Vaughn, although his name rings a bell with me. I am grateful to JJ Tassiello who alerted me to the news of his death. I need all the help I can get in publishing Hugh's News. I am grateful to all of my readers who may take the time to write me. I can be reached at:

I called Ann Phillips of Oklahoma City. She served as my executive secretary and administrative assistant when I was president of Southwestern College. Everybody needs a friend like Ann. She knows a myriad of people in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, and Colorado. She was most helpful in telling me about him. She told me that he served on the Oklahoma Conference Board, was well known and respected as a man of honesty and integrity.
In addition, I called Deedee Springer of Germantown, TN, and she knew him. Deedee and her late husband, C. H. have been treasured friends for many years. There were about four young men who became preachers out of their church in Memphis, and E. L. Vaughn was one of the four.
I especially want to thank his son, Sam Vaughn, of Purcell, OK, for the obituary, and funeral arrangements.
I would like to express to Brother Vaughn's family, and especially his dear wife, Aleen, my deepest appreciation and gratitude for their ministry and marriage of 71 years. What a legacy of service you have given to us. May the Holy Spirit bring you great comfort in your grief.]
