Arnold Walker Smith, Sr. passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2010 in Vandalia, Ohio.
Arnold was born August 24, 1925 in Lacrosse, Virginia. He was a retired minister with forty-one years of service in the Cornerstone Conference. He was preceded in death by a devoted, loving wife of 56 years, Helen Haywood Smith, a beloved son, Arnold Walker Smith, Jr., his father, Willie Bob Smith, mother, Lona Bell Shropshire Smith, seven brothers, Charlie, Robert, Sam, Amos, Tim, Harry, Herman, and two sisters, Patricia and Christine.
He is survived by his two daughters, Susan Truesdale (Bill) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Jane Kiwacka (Tony) of Vandalia, OH, three grandchildren, Amy T. Hodges (Richie), Jason Truesdale (Kelly) and Elizabeth Jonker (Joe), two great-grandsons, Ethan and Eric Truesdale. In addition to his children, he is survived by brothers, Wendell, Douglas, Willie Bob, Jr. and sister, Naomi, all of Lacrosse VA, and a wife, Doris of Patrick Springs, VA.
Viewing will take place at Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel located at 5858 Riverside Drive, Danville, VA on Saturday, September 25, 2010, beginning at 12:00 p. m. to 1:30 p. m. and concluding with graveside service at Highland Burial Park beginning at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Mr. Tommy McGee officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to A. W. Smith, Jr. Memorial P H Church located in Cherokee, NC. Donations can be mailed to the following address: Cornerstone Conference, P O Box 150, Brown Summit, NC 27214
The family will receive friends at 3064 Oak Hill Rd, Danville, VA.
