Bishop Wesley Russ, Superintendent of the Mid-Atlantic Conference sent the following report on Friday night, March 11:
It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of Miss Catherine Funkhouser on Friday, March 11, 2011 around 1 p. m. after an illness of several weeks. She would have been 93 next month. While we are saddened for our loss of this great prayer warrior and minister of the gospel, we rejoice for Miss Catherine, who has now face to face with her Savior.
Our love and prayers go to Rev. Donna Leatherman and David Wayne Funkhouser, along with the grandchildren, Rev. Randy, Joshua, and Daniel Leatherman and David Funkhouser, Jr.
Following are the funeral arrangements for Miss Catherine:
Viewing and family visitation Monday, March 14, from 2-4 and 7-9 at

Keyser, WV 26726
The funeral service will be Tuesday, March 15, at 2 p. m., at Emmanuel P. H. Assembly, 231 Newton Street, Keyser. There will be a dinner after the service at Keyser Fire Department on Main Street.

[Editor's comment: I have had the privilege of knowing the Funkhousers for about 20 years. I have observed their faithfulness to their conference and the IPHC. You could always count on Wayne and Catherine Funkhouser being present and supporting the conference and general church. Brother Wayne Funkhouser used to say, "God will pull you through, if you can stand the pull."
Miss Catherine was present last September at the Quadrennial Conference of the Mid-Atlantic Conference in Baltimore. Bishop Russ appropriately honored this good Christian lady during the plenary session. He always does a magnificent job in planning his conferences and special events. He values people and makes everyone feel right at home. May God bless the memory of this saint who has finished her course and keep the faith."
