Stewardship is the core of all giving and God's promises of blessing are real

Hugh's News and Commentary has been a ministry of faith from the beginning of this newsletter. It has been and continues to be an adventurous journey for me. We are in our thirteen (13) year of continuous publication. The growth of this electronic newsletter has far exceeded my fondest imagination. You see . . . the truth is . . . I never conceptualized what God would do through my feeble efforts.

It has become apparent to me that God has called me to this Christian journalism ministry to report the news of the IPHC family and the body of Christ worldwide. But it is far more than that. I have been called to bless my readers with the benedictions of the Bible.

The adventure of memorizing the Benedictions of the Bible must have happened in my life early on in my ministry as a pastor and an Air Force chaplain.

It all started when I read the benediction recorded in Numbers 6:22-27:

22 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: 23 "Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, 'This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them:

24 "The LORD bless you and keep you;
25 The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
26 The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace."'

27 "So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them."

When I realized that when I pronounced God's Word upon the congregations entrusted to me, and the readers of my newsletter that God Himself would bless them, that was all I needed to challenge and encourage me to memorize the benedictions of the Bible.

I have seen marvelous things happen in the lives of God's people when and after I have given a benediction.

At the conclusion of a worship service, I would stand and lift my hands as high as I could reach and ask this question: "Will you receive the Benediction?"  It is my responsibility to pronounce the benediction upon God's people; however, it is the decision of each congregant to receive it. I have seen people just fall back gently into their pews and sit there for a long period of time waiting in the presence of Almighty God. It was during those times that the Holy Spirit was ministering to the spirits of the people and working out His divine purposes.

With the change of our new format for both the website and newsletter format, I have neglected this vital part of the unique ministry God has given me for you.

Think of it and meditate on the words just quoted above:

The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

I truly believe that God really wants us as His children to understand how the economy of His Kingdom works. I am convinced that throughout Scripture God promises prosperity and abundance to those who are willing to share that with which He entrusts us.

The Psalmist wrote: "The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it" (Psalm 24:1, NIV).

The Apostle Paul said the same thing to the Corinthians believers: "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" (1 Corinthians 10:26, NIV).

Almighty God is the owner of it all. However, He has given us a responsibility to be good stewards of the resources He has entrusted to us.

I believe that God has raised up Hugh's News for such a time as this. It is meeting a need that no one else is doing. It's success is because of God's anointing on this ministry. My role is to provide you with the best news coverage I can give. That takes planning, organizing, and connecting with a myriad of people who feed the news to me. That relationship with so many people is as the result of a trust factor over more than 50 years of public ministry. I have a solemn responsibility to be faithful to my calling and give it my best efforts.

I believe that God has impressed me to have 10,000 readers. That is 5,000 more than we presently have.

I need your help if we are to achieve what God wants for Hugh's News by way of readers. You can certainly influence no less than three (3) persons to subscribe to Hugh's News. It is very easy. My newsletter provides that opportunity for new people to register. We now only ask two questions.

1.  What is your name?

2.  What is your e-mail address?

Then, you must consent by submitting your claim for a free subscription to Hugh's News.

God has enabled me to go all out to provide a newly designed website and newsletter format, second to none. It has been done by professional web and e-mail format designers. That was a gift from God and shows His favor on this expanding ministry.

If you are benefiting from Hugh's News and want to continue receiving it, doesn't it make sense that you will want others to know about it, and receive it too.

You can help me by soliciting your friends, relatives, associates, and neighbors to join the Hugh's News family of subscribers.

Secondly, you can give as God may direct you. Your contributions are tax deductible and will help us pay the bills. The summer months tend to be lean in giving, but we must maintain our ability to pay our debts and provide for more and more newsletters. There is no spirit of slacking up or giving up in me. That is contrary to my nature. I only want what God wants for this ministry.

You can give by two methods:

1.  Major Credit Cards

2   Check or money order

When writing a check or a money order make out the check to Hugh's News, Inc. Please do not send a check to me unless you want to give it as a gift. In that case, your gift is not tax deductible.

Our bank has provided a clear, safe method of receiving your credit card. You will be recognized, and if you give your e-mail address, then I can personally respond to your gift via credit card.

May I take this opportunity to thank you in advance for your cooperation in recruiting others to receive Hugh's News, and for your financial gifts to Hugh's News, Inc.

Please send your checks to:

Will you receive the Benediction:?

2 Corinthians 9:6-8

6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
NIV
