The Holy Spirit had impressed me early one morning as I was praying for Stephanie that we should start thanking Him for healing Stephanie. Since then, we have been praising the Lord for her healing and marvelous things have transpired.
Stephanie has made a big turnaround. She looks remarkably well. Her color has returned and her eyes seem to dance with life and vitality. She even went shopping this week on two occasions.
What a radiant Christian young lady she is. She is genuine, and she is undoubtedly the most positive person I have ever met.
On Thursday, Stephanie went with Melvine and me, along with Greg, our son, to the memorial service for Dorothy Hopkins the mother of Drs. Kenneth Hopkins, a retired dentist in Memphis, TN, Gerald Hopkins, a retired pastor from Greenville, SC, and David Hopkins, retired president of Emmanuel College. It was like going to a family reunion.
We saw so many of our friends we have known for many years.
I never realized before what a fiery and passionate preacher Mark Hopkins, son of David and Claudia Fountain Hopkins, is. He reminded me of his grandfather, Paul Hopkins the preacher/pastor/evangelist/conference superintendent. He read with fervor the sermon his grandmother, Dorothy Hopkins, had written about the beautiful feet of those who bring the good news of the Gospel.
Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains
are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace,
who bring good tidings,
who proclaim salvation,
who say to Zion,
NIV
Romans 10:14-15
"How, then, can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of Whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
NIV
After we attended the memorial service for Dorothy Hopkins, we went to Rafferty's Restaurant in Athens for lunch. It's my all-time favorite restaurant in Athens. Melvine instructed us that this luncheon meal would serve as our major meal for the day. So, I decided to get the Jackson Hole Filet, a thick and juicy 8-oz. Filet slow-roasted over hickory wood. The most tender of all their steaks! If you are in Athens sometime in the future, try it, you might like it.
We just want to thank all of you who have prayed for Stephanie. Prayer really works, and God is still healing people today. And most of all, we want to thank Jesus Christ for healing Stephanie. He still touches people today with His healing hand.
