Stan Oliver, Sr. requests prayer from the readers of Hugh's News and the body of Christ worldwide:
On July 30, 2010, Stan will have a cancerous growth removed from his chest. On August 5th another one will be removed from his left facial cheek.
Prognosis is good; prayer needed and desired!!
[Editor's Note: I have known Stan Oliver since I was a freshman at Emmanuel College in 1952. Stan was in high school. He was an exceptional bass singer and a gifted athlete. He was exceptional football player and would have made a great quarterback of a collegiate football team. He was agile, had a strong throwing arm, excellent eye and hand coordination, and had incredible moves as a runner.
Years later, when I was in graduate school in Atlanta, 1972-73, our families attended Church of the Comforter in Tucker, Georgia. We sang in the choir directed by Stan Oliver, when Wesley Russ was the pastor. I remember Joseph when he was a little boy running around on the church grounds with a ball in his hands. He made it clear he wanted to be a baseball player, and he did. He became a professional baseball player and was the catcher of the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, and played in the World Series.
On Tuesday, I saw Stan's son-in-law, Chris Maxwell, Campus Pastor of Emmanuel College, walking with Lee Grady, the new executive editor of IPHC Experience, I was talking with Stacy Hilliard at the Evangelism USA exhibit which is next to Chaplains Ministries, IPHC. Chris gave me Stan's telephone number and I called and talked with Stan. I can tell you that Stan is a genuine Christian and loves the Lord. Let us lift up Stan Oliver in prayer for a successful surgery or surgeries, and complete healing.
