St. Clair Caddell, Sr., age 91, of Marion, NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at the Hospice House of Rutherford County.
A native of Bonneau, SC, he was a son of the late John and Frances Mixson Caddell.
SC, as he was known, was retired as Vice President of Sales for the Derst Baking Company in Savannah, GA. Among his many interests, he particularly enjoyed gardening and repairing small engines. He also had a passion for church planning and was an avid supporter of Emmanuel College.
A veteran of the U. S. Army he proudly served during WWII. He was a member of the Marion First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
His first wife, Louise Stroud Caddell, to whom he was married for almost 60 years, preceded him in death in December, 2000.
Survivors include his wife of 9 years, Dorothy Ferguson Caddell of the home; four children, Judith Isaza and her husband Luis of Ocala, FL, St. Clair Caddell, Jr. of Sneads Ferry, Gay Rudd and her husband Dr. Gene Rudd of Bristol, TN, and Charles Caddell of Marion; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 2 p. m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Dr. Gene Rudd officiating and with military honors provided by the U. S. Army. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p. m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery on Monday, July 11, 2011.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Louise Stroud Caddell Scholarship Fund at Emmanuel College, P. O. Box 129, Franklin Springs, GA 30639.
