Dear Members of the SCU Board of Regents:
I am excited to give you a preliminary report on enrollment at Southwestern Christian University. We are in the third day of classes with drop/adds and schedule changes yet to occur, so the numbers will fluctuate some in the next few days. However, as of yesterday, August 17, 2010, our enrollment stats are as follows:
Traditional Undergraduate:
Headcount UP 59.1% compared to Fall, 2009 census date headcount
FTE UP 67.7% compared to Fall, 2009 census date FTE
Dorm residents - UP 92.3% (125 compared to 65 in Fall, 2009)
Professional Studies (ABLE):
(Includes Tulsa students)
Headcount UP 57% compared to Fall, 2009 census date headcount
FTE UP 64.4% compared to Fall, 2009 census date FTE
Graduate School:
Graduate classes do not begin until September 12, so accurate Graduate enrollment figures are not available at this point. We anticipate changing the beginning date of graduate classes next year to align more closely with the overall academic calendar. We are also working with President Stewart at Emmanuel College to "fast track" an onsite master's degree program with a majority of the classes to be offered at the Emmanuel campus. We feel this will go a long way toward serving east coast students and promoting good will within the denomination.
]
We are also very close to executing an agreement with Comcourse to get our online program "moving forward" within the next few weeks. This could positively impact enrollment as early as the upcoming spring semester. I feel confident that we should surpass the 500 FTE mark this semester (overall), and an FTE of 1,000 within a few semesters is not unrealistic.
We had a great first Chapel yesterday and the new students seem to be adjusting well to SCU life. As you can see, the promises for the future are SIGNIFICANT and EXCITING!!!!
Blessings,
Ed
