Southwestern Christian University Names New Dean of the Graduate School

Dr. Terry Tramel has been named by Dr. Ed Huckeby, president of Southwestern Christian University, to be the new dean of the Graduate School of Ministry. Dr. Tramel will take the deanship in the fall of 2010.

BETHANY, Oklahoma–Southwestern Christian University announces the selection of Dr. Terry Tramel as the Dean of the Graduate School of Ministry, effective July 1, 2010.

Current Graduate School Dean, John Chasteen, was recently named the Executive Director of the newly established LifeCoaching Institute at SCU. John served as the assistant dean of the Graduate School until the retirement of Dr. Garnet Pike last December 2009 who started the Graduate School in 1992, with the first classes in 1993 with Dr. Bobby Clinton, a great teacher in leadership. We are grateful for the legacy of Dr. Pike both at Southwestern Christian University and at the School of Christian Ministry at Emmanuel College. And, we thank God for John Chasteen, a prince of a man and a great writer and teacher. John has earned a Ph. D. degree from Oral Roberts University. Prior to his arrival at SCU, John was the bishop of the Grace Bible Ministries Conference (Texas). His son, Jonathan, is the Vice President for University Development. Jonathan is a talented young man and a great communicator.

Dr. Tramel has served at Southwestern Christian University since 2000 as a professor. In 2006 he was named the chair of the undergraduate Theology and Missions Department and most recently has served as a full-time faculty member in the SCU Graduate School of Ministry.
Tramel has a B.S. in Pastoral Ministry from Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a Master of Arts in Theology from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Ministry in Pentecostal Leadership from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary in Springfield, Missouri.

Tramel also recently published a book entitled,The Beauty of the Balance, which looks at efforts towards a balanced Evangelical-Pentecostal theology.
