[Editor's Note: I have known Layton and Sara since 1995 when I became the senior pastor at the Richmond First Pentecostal Holiness Church. They had been members of the church during the pastorates of the Rev. Dr. Ed Boyce and the Rev. Mr. Bill Terry. Layton and Sara would attend our church from time to time when I was the pastor. The whole family had a great love for Evangelist Jerry B. Walker, and they would travel hundreds of miles to hear him preach.
I feel a kinship to the Weeks family. Melvine's first cousin, Mary Ann Shropshire Weeks, is married to Everette Weeks, a brother to Layton. They are in the tile business. So, although we no longer live in Richmond, we on occasion have opportunity to pass through the city and pay a visit to the Weeks' family.
Karen Gayle Weeks Campbell is married to Scott Campbell, a son of the late Rev. Dr. Carl Campbell, one of the finest pastors and preachers in the 20th Century. As I recall, he was the senior pastor of the Ray of Hope Pentecostal Holiness Church in Richmond, VA. Bonnie is married to the Rev. Mr. Randy Hill and they reside in Fort Mill, SC.
In the providence of God He has allowed me to live and meet so many of the Pentecostal Holiness people. My life and ministry have been enriched by their lives. Melvine and I dearly loved Sara. She and Mary Ann often traveled to Draper, NC, to visit Melvine's parents, Russell and Frances Shropshire Stewart. We have never forgotten those many kindnesses expressed for our loved ones.]
