Receiving the Benediction is your choice and mine

Today's benediction is recorded in Philippians 4:6-7:

Philippians 4:6-7
Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
RSV

I don't exactly remember when I memorized this verse in holy Scripture. I am not sure I perceived it as a benediction when I memorized it many years ago. However, I can tell you this Scripture has helped me so many times when I have been anxious, feeling pressure, or under stress or duress. I have found myself quoting it from memory and meditating upon the words. I can tell you there is power in the words because they are the inspired words given to us by God for our faith and daily living.

Prayer for me is my conversation with God when I express my deepest feelings to Him in a private time of communication. In this case, my own anxiety and insecurity. The Word of God says that "Great peace have they who love Your law; nothing shall offend them or make them stumble" (Psalm 119:165, AMP).

When I think of the word "supplication" I think of more intensive prayer that is earnest, and fervent. I would say it means "crying out to God."  When one cries out to God I believe He listens provided we are sincere.

The real key in this benediction is "thanksgiving." I find that thanking God in advance for what I need is the key to receiving what God has to offer in meeting my need.

The end result is a peace that passes all understanding. It brings a calmness and a serenity that you know that you have, and you find yourself at rest. You then can let go of the tormenting thoughts and fears that disturb your heart and mind.

I trust you will receive this benediction to meet your current need, as well as needs in the future.
