There is no doubt about it--the priority of Jesus was evangelism. You see that clearly in the Gospel of John. The purpose of this Gospel record is clearly stated in John 20:31, "But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name" (KJV).
Jesus did not have a canned approach to winning people. He met them where they were and led them step by step to saving faith. In chapter 4, the writer states in verse 4, "And He must needs go through Samaria" (KJV). Our Lord went there to win one person and to offer her living water--a well of water springing up into everlasting life." This unnamed woman found a new life in Christ, and with great wisdom as well as the grace of a woman shared the good news with the men of Samaria like this: "Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: Is not this the Christ? Then they went out of the city, and came unto Him."
When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus in the third chapter of John, He told him he must be born again.
This week I interviewed a young man who wants to go to the Air Force Academy to become an Air Force officer. The last question I asked him was about his spiritual life and journey. He gave an exciting testimony of how he came to realize that he needed Jesus, knew he was a sinner, repented and confessed his sins and invited Jesus into his heart and life. This young man is 17 and is a senior in high school. He is a member of the National Honor Society, and plays football for his high school. His desire is to serve others and to serve our country.
You can help me reach other people for Hugh's News. We need to grow more rapidly than we are presently doing. There is growth, but not as fast as I would like to see it grow. We win people one by one.
God must move upon you to motivate you to want to help me get 5,000 more readers. We want to have no less than 10,000 readers of Hugh's News.
I believe it can happen. There is no reason for it not to grow. We must remove the obstacles, or hindrances to growth.
I promise to give this newsletter my very best.
Will you help me?
Each person must go to my website: www.hughsnews.com and register. It is simple and takes only a few seconds to complete. All we ask for is your name and e-mail address. I cannot register for you. Because of Spam laws each person must register himself/herself. Often I talk with people who tell me they are not receiving Hugh's News any longer. First, have you changed e-mail addresses. If so, you must notify my webmaster and change your e-mail address. Second, check your Junk Mail or Spam Mail. Last, start all over again, and re-register. Don't miss any editions. You will get news and information in Hugh's News you cannot receive any other place. A lot of elderly people do not do computers. Printing out Hugh's News for someone who likes to read this newsletter can be a great ministry for one to take it seriously. I know that Coach Jim Ganey did that for Brother John Swails. I guarantee you that he will tell you now that he is glad he did that.
Will you receive the Benediction?
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now to Him [God] Who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
