Presiding Bishop Ronald W. Carpenter, Sr. declares a 21-day fast, January 1-21, 2011

2011 Fast Declaration

As General Superintendent of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, I hereby declare a 21-day fast from January 1 through 21, 2011.

This fast is held in cooperation with the Awakening America Alliance. Its purpose shall be to pursue a Christ awakening in our nation, and to pray that God will help the IPHC to be a relevant, dynamic, and demonstrative church in the 21st century.

Our country desperately needs a spiritual awakening. God has called the church to be light and salt, to make known the hidden pathways, and to share the Gospel. The Awakening America Alliance is a cooperative effort of many churches and ministries of which the IPHC is a part, seeking to increase awareness of the deep spiritual needs in America and pursue an awakening that will impact the world.

I believe that as we embark on this 21-day fast and humble ourselves before Him, we will see the relevant, dynamic, and demonstrative Church rise up and affect our nation!

I encourage everyone, from the Executive Council of Bishops at the Global Ministry Center to Conference Bishops, local pastor and congregational members to join together in this fast. Let us worship together by offering the first fruits of this year to the Lord and pray for revival in our nation.

Signed this third day of November, 2010
