President James D. Leggett reports on exciting news about housing for students at Holmes

The first day back to college is always an exciting time. Students are excited to see each other after a summer of vacation or work. The faculty and staff are so pleased to see the entire student body, both the returning students and the new students.

This year has been very special. For the first time since we moved to the new campus, we have had the female students residing in campus housing. They were so excited and so pleased with the beautiful rooms, that are fully furnished, and to have their own place on campus.

They have already entertained Mrs. Faye Leggett for dinner one evening for a Lucy Holmes Society meeting. They prepared a delicious meal and brought a dessert to my office that Jennifer Moore had prepared. Jennifer made Malva pudding, a delicious dessert she had learned to make from Mrs. Maggie Delport while on SAFARI in Africa.

The male students have moved just across the ravine in housing that borders the college property, so it is almost like having them on campus as well. It is a blessing to watch them playing basketball on the campus or doing their work study and then walking or riding back to the Vining apartments. All of the campus activity is creating a wonderful atmosphere.
