The month of February is often associated with Valentine's Day...a day which pays tribute to "love." We sometimes use the word rather carelessly...such as "I love to play golf," or "I love my car." But true "love" has a much deeper meaning. After 41 years of faithful and enduring marriage, I can truly say "I love my wife" with all my heart. As a hopeless romantic, it brings tears to my eyes just writing about it.
On February 1st, the Southwestern Christian University President's Cabinet had the privilege to attend a very meaningful graveside service for Eula Corvin, wife of founding President, Dr. R. O. Corvin. It was a very touching and meaningful service. One of the attendees, who was affiliated with the institution during the Corvin days, came up to me afterwards and commented tenderly..."I LOVE SOUTHWESTERN." This comment is indicative of the passion we see from those whose lives have been touched over the years by the administrators, faculty and staff of Southwestern.
As a Southwestern alumnus or friend, think about how you can share the love of God which was instilled in you at Southwestern with those around you. And, think about how you can help us, through both your prayers and your financial support, to educate the new generation of Southwestern students with that same love in their hearts.
